Technology has always been there to make excellent in-roads in the world of medicine. It creates new and ingenious ways to tackle diseases and other ailments. A harbinger of progress, technology always brings with it the promise of better methods to handle current situations.

The anti-hair loss community is constantly on the look out for cutting-edge solutions to treat their condition. Products and procedures may be available in a wide scope of choice. How these may actually benefit people with alopecia sometimes prove to be an expensive exercise in trial and error. The community hopes to find more precise but cost-effective ways to combat either a receding hairline or baldness. These benefits however, should not come with potential side effects. Clean, effective and affordable solutions are the traits that the market seeks when searching for good or services to treat their condition.

It is true that hair loss can be a source of anxiety and lack of self-confidence. One’s hair is a part of one’s self-expression. When this is limited through its gradual loss, one would like to find ways to regain it. Androgenic alopecia is a condition that could be treated to a certain extent through a good diet, a healthy lifestyle and possibly the use of the right products or services.

One such example is laser technology. It has come to the forefront of the cosmetic industry in recent years. Laser removal procedures are already in use at different clinics to take out unwanted hair on the scalp, face and body. It is also being used to erase areas of the scalp treated with the process known as scalp micropigmentation or SMP. The popularity of laser removal procedures is on the rise due to its reliability and consistency. These applications prove that laser technology is effective in addressing the requirements of this niche market.

There are two products that are banking on the technology of lasers as well. One is called iGrow Hair Growth System. It is a helmet-like contraption that beams laser light directly onto the scalp to stimulate hair follicles. The other is named as the HairMax Laser Comb. It has been available in the market for quite some time now. HairMax promises similar results. The difference is that it is a handheld device that allows one to focus on certain areas of the scalp. Both however have the same end goal of being an effective anti hair loss product. There are claims by some laser technology companies that positive results using their devices can be appreciated within six to eight weeks and would take about nine months to witness the complete development. These assertions are not derived from customer feedback, however. They are directly from the manufacturer.

There are twenty-one diodes and thirty LED lights that comprise the inner workings of the iGrow helment. The use of low-level laser therapy allows for the stimulation of the scalp and its hair follicles. These low-level lasers seep into the scalp to generate activity of the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) molecule, which is known to aid in cell growth. This leads to a potential increase in hair growth. There is actual positive user feedback for this product though an officially backed endorsement by a leading medical body or institution has yet to be received.

The laser device that has received the approval of the Food and Drug Association (FDA) however is the HairMax laser comb. This product is usually combined with other medical drugs to treat baldness such as Propecia and Rogaine. Both drugs are also FDA approved. iGrow looks much larger than HairMax though both products claim to work the same way and produce similar results. The difference is HairMax is easier to take along due to its less bulky design. Every session comprises ten minutes performed thrice a week. User feedback for HairMax is positive though the results cannot be attributed solely to the device as other medication is taken in conjunction with its use.

In summary, iGrow is said to provide results independent of other products. Its design just is not as portable. It should not matter however because the most important thing is that it works. HairMax on the other hand, is easier to bring along. What needs to be done however is a controlled test, without any other products to see how truly effective each product is versus the other. We suspect that both will show very similar results.
