Male Pattern Balding is the medical term for hair loss is Alopecia and the most common type of hair loss among men is known as androgenetic alopecia. It is also called pattern baldness or male pattern balding. This condition is generally permanent in nature. It can begin very early, in fact, some experience pattern baldness in their early 20’s or even in their teenage years. The pattern of hair loss is well defined. It typically begins at the hairline and recedes gradually to form a characteristic M shape. The hair on the top of the head also thins and this eventually leads to partial or complete baldness. In this condition, the time of hair growth shortens and as a result, new hairs come up thin and fine until the follicles stop producing hair at all. The biggest reason behind male pattern baldness is related to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that only affects the hair on the top of the head. The hair at the back and sides of the head are not affected.
