Scalp Micro Pigmentation
Laser Scalp Micro Pigmentation Removal
At Vinci Hair Clinic we are seeing more patients who have had Scalp Micro Pigmentation (SMP) treatment elsewhere and are unhappy with the results. Poor quality is being carried out by inexperienced technicians where patients are being left with extremely low hairlines that becomes unflattering with age, or a solid design that creates a helmet effect.
In order to help patients like these, we have introduced Laser Scalp Micro Pigmentation Removal. This process allows the safe removal of unwanted pigments from the skin without causing scarring or damage to the hair follicles.
The Laser SMP removal process is the same as laser tattoo removal, however as SMP is generally placed at a more superficial level in the skin than a traditional tattoo, it tends to be easier to remove. In many cases we can remove SMP in 2 to 3 sessions while tattoo removal takes as little as 8 sessions.
Tests and Consulting
We offer face to face consultations where we can discuss your individual requirements. We will need to assess the existing pigment to ensure you are a candidate for laser removal, and provide you tailored treatment programme.
A patch test is usually required before starting your course of laser removal treatment.
We use a highly effective Q-Switched laser to remove unwanted SMP from the scalp. The laser directs short pulses of light energy to the area being treated. The pigment absorbs the light which breaks into small particles whilst the surrounding skin remains unaffected.
We generally start to see the pigment lighten considerably after two to three sessions.
Following each laser treatment, the small residual particles of ink are removed by the immune system’s natural processes. This causes the pigmentation to gradually fade away over the coming weeks.
Once you have completed your course of laser removal, you may then decide to complete your SMP treatment to achieve a natural and realistic result with us here at Vinci.
Frequently Asked Questions
This will depend on each individual but several treatments will be required. We usually find that after the first sitting there is visible progress but this all comes down to the age of the pigmentation and the quality of the ink.
The length of each session will depend on how much pigment needs removing, but usually this can be anything between 1 – 2 hours.
Shaving is required when carrying out laser so we can easily target the pigment which needs removing.
Yes, as the laser operates in short fraction of a second bursts targeting only the ink. It doesn’t affect your surrounding skin.
